Our pulpit minister is Nathan Franson. He is married to Katy and they have one son, Micah, along with a Siberian Husky named Dharma.
Nathan has been working with the Mariposa Avenue church of Christ since June, 2017. He is a graduate of the Memphis School of Preaching. Before this work he served as the preacher at Kissimmee church of Christ in Kissimmee, Florida from 2009 to 2017.
Prior to preaching the Gospel, Nathan lived in Los Angeles, California where he worked for several years as a Special Makeup Effects artist for film, television, and live theater. Nathan grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, having spent his first 20 years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church) before studying his way out and has taught and written much about the errors of the Mormon faith. He conducts a seminar titled What to Know When Talking to a Mormon which he has taught in many places throughout the United States as well as foreign countries. He has spoke at gospel meetings and lectureships, appeared on TV and radio programs, and has written numerous articles and a tract. He has written a book called Breaking the Chains (a semi-autobiography on why he left Mormonism) and has two DVD’s available titled Is Mormonism Really From God? and What About Mormonism?. He additionally manages a website, www.mormonstudy.net.
Nathan currently teaches online classes for the Bear Valley Bible Institute of New Zealand. His mission work includes New Zealand, South Africa, Russia, and several cities in the United States. He was an instructor at the Florida School of Preaching from 2013 to 2017.
Nathan's hobbies include collecting ancient coins, collecting hockey pucks, and photography. He loves hockey and has been a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins for years.
